I had this thought last night that I might have spent a lot of my time gathering knowledge without gaining wisdom. Once Tony Evans said that "wisdom is putting feet to your what you know".

How many times have I read a great book and not implemented what I learned?

How many times have I had an amazing conversation with another leader only to walk away and stay basically the same?

How many times have I read a passage of Scripture or devo and not put feet to it?

How many times has the Lord revealed Himself to me and I've left unchanged?

I have a large appetite (no fat jokes...this time) to read, connect and grow. In this new year I need my life to be about gaining wisdom not gathering knowledge. I'm endeavoring to live the words of James 1:22

"Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourself. Do what it says"

And all God's people said...amen.

I agree that we need to put feet to what we know, but I also think that God has to prompt us to the changes we need to make. Just because a good man says something good doesn't mean everyone needs to change in that way. Then we would all be carbon copies running around. God created us different for a reason. I also think that knowledge gained can be put away until it is needed as wisdom for a situation later in life or for someone else....Just my thoughts :)

I totally agree with Misty however...

I have found with myself that I am SO prone to being knowledgeable about subjects without actually doing something about it.

In "this" area, what makes me any different than the bloggers who live in thier mom's basement, criticizing people who actually "do" while they eat fritos in their underwear?

(eww... sorry for the picture :-)

As to what God wants of me, this I know; I know a lot less about God's desires for me than I did, say, ten years ago.....

We just have to keep on lovin' Jesus. God will do the rest.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
