HT to http://sxc.hu again for the pic that served as the base for this graphic. This is the graphic we'll be using this weekend:

Enjoy and feel free to use, or point out all the stuff that's wrong with it. ;-)

If you're looking for design inspiration, here's some sites I use.

One of my favorite churches recently used "We Will" as the theme for their Global Impact Celebrations. These guys are really doing it. I'm so humbled to have played a part in the life of their church through this song.

Here's the graphic they used:

I went down there last Wednesday and played sax for their set for the opening of their celebration. It was amazing to hear a church full of people singing the words of a song that I wrote. It was even crazier to see "We Will" on every piece of print that they handed out. Just insane for me to see that.

I just want to say thanks to their pastor, Michael Fletcher. Thanks for your heart for Him and for seeing the world changed by Him and for allowing this song to become a part of the worship culture at Manna.

Thanks Wayne for introducing it to them!

You can hear Pastor Fletcher's message to conclude their Global Impact Celebration here:

It's the Feb. 22nd sermon titled...you guessed it; We Will.

Thanks for rejoicing with me in this moment.

A Prayer of Likability

Someone called me the other day and said they "needed everyone to like me". That could be the most difficult job description I've ever heard. With that in mind, let's say a short prayer.

"Heavenly Father, please let them love blue jeans and tennis shoes.

Help them enjoy a ranging variety of music and styles.

May they always appreciate quick wit and sarcasm.

And help them to love an overweight, balding guy who's still trying to hold on to being cool.

In Jesus' name.

Amen."

What would you pray in your prayer of likability? (now's also the time when all my friends comment and tell me what I missed in mine)

Free Graphic Friday

So, I'm not sure if this will be a regular thing, but I thought it would be cool to post the graphic I'm working on for our services. I'm using LIMITED software and not doing a whole lot, so please go easy on me. This week is "Beyond Hope". Here's what I came up with:

A great place to get royalty free hi-res images. Enjoy and feel free to use if needed.

Never Say Always

I had two conversations this weekend that left me with this impression:

Just because we've always done it one way, doesn't mean we should never try another way.

It's easy to get set in traditions. We experience something great that feels right and over time we settle into routine. Routine becomes ritual and, if we're not careful, we can let sacred moments become sacred cows.

Which leads me to this. In addition to "never say never", should we add "never say always" to our lexicon? I know there are things that are constant. But when it comes to our mode of communication or our format of service, I'm thinking it might be a good idea to drop the word always.

I'm a firm believer that God is, has been and will always be a creator. With that in mind, I'm never saying always again. Oh wait, I can't say never either. :-)

What do you think?

Here I Am to Romance

So...we remixed "Here I Am to Worship" to "Here I Am to Romance" this weekend. Our Sr. High leader took his wife out on a special date to serenade her. Without further adieu, here's what went down. Enjoy!

I'm sitting here on Valentine's day thinking about love. Not just like I love cheeseburgers love, but 1st Corinthians 13 love.

Running through a mental checklist and thinking about how it would look if it was biographical. Here's what I think it would look like.

Love is patient (most of the time)

Love is kind (as long as it's reciprocated)

Love doesn't envy (unless you have something I want)

Love doesn't boast (except when trash talk is neccessary)

And on and on it goes.

I'm trying to love the right way. Thanks to 1st Cor. 13 I know just how far I have to go.

Thinking Through 2.0

So...This guy has had me thinking a LOT about my blog. The way it looks/feels the purpose of it. Pretty much anything to do with my blog, I've thought about. So...with that said I'm praying/planning for a move for the blog to 2.0. What's involved?

  • redesign
  • move to wordpress
  • intense debate for comments
  • basically an upgrade in every way
I'm still thinking about the best way to make it happen and I'm open to other's thoughts. (isn't that what this world is about?)

What would you like to see or recommend for blog 2.0?

I'm coming to the conclusion that there are some things only prayer can fix. You'd think being a worship pastor, I'd already be rolling with that knowledge. But, if I'm honest, I try to fix a lot of things from my small reservoir of knowledge and personal leadership skills.

It hit me like a ton of bricks this week. I really felt like the Lord was telling me; "this next season of your life is going to require prayer over everything else".

I read something Anne Jackson (@flowerdust) said today. "Doing for God isn't the same as being with God". That totally reinforced this view of the preeminent role prayer needs to play in my life as a leader.

Sometimes it's so easy to do and hard to pray.

Sometimes I want to run with the ball before I know the play.

But there comes a time when all I need to do is wait.

It's time to put prayer in the front seat. If anybody needs me; I'll be buckled up in the back loving every minute of it.
